Brunch is one of my favorite experiences, so I had to research and find the best brunches in Oaxaca! One thing about Oaxaca that I love is they offer traditional Mexican breakfasts with chilaquiles and huevos rancheros while also offering avocado toast and açaí bowls. It’s seriously the best of both worlds!
Here are the Best Brunches in Oaxaca from the brunch queen herself! 😉 Read my full Oaxaca travel guide here.
Santa Hierba
5 de Mayo 505, Jalatlaco neighborhood, 68080 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
8:30am-6pm
Açaí bowls, avocado toast, and matcha waffles – does it get any more basic? Grab a juice, smoothie, cafe, or kombucha while you wait for your food and enjoy the rustic atmosphere.
AM Siempre Cafe
C. de Manuel García Vigil 509, RUTA INDEPENDENCIA, Downtown, 68000 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
8am-9:30pm
AM Siempre has an insane selection of naughty baked goods. Think cinnamon rolls, scones, muffins, croissants, and Nutella everything! But, they also have a ton of savory entrees that pair perfectly with their yummy treats. Molletes, chilaquiles, and huevos rancheros to name a few!
Chepiche Cafe
De, Genaro Vásquez 6 A, Barrio de Xochimilco, 68040 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
8am-2:30pm
Chepiche Cafe offers traditional Mexican breakfast items including Huevos Rancheros, Chilaquiles, and La Santa, or go for a western-style with Eggs Benedict, Avocado Toast, or a Fresh Fruit Bowl! There’s always live music on the weekends on their lovely garden terrace.
Boulenc
C. Porfirio Díaz 207, RUTA INDEPENDENCIA, Downtown, 68000 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
8:30am-11pm
Boulenc is the most popular brunch spot in Oaxaca, so prepare for a wait! Known for their artisan bread, they offer a wide range of baked goods from croissants, galette des rois with jam, muffins, brioche, and brownies! But the deliciousness doesn’t stop there, they also have traditional breakfast items such as hotcakes, fruit bowls, and Shakshuka. But the best part is they offer vegan and gluten-free options!
Pan:Am
Centro Location: C. de Mariano Abasolo 103 B, RUTA INDEPENDENCIA, Downtown, 68000 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
Reforma Location: Av Belisario Domínguez 809, Reforma, 68050 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
San Felipe Location: Blvrd la Paz 104, San FELIPE, Colinas de la Soledad, 68024 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
8am-9:30pm
Pan:Am is known for their baked goods, so see what’s hot and fresh when you arrive! Can’t decide between savory and sweet? Me too! Grab a half order of their Nutella and fresh strawberry waffles to share for a sweet treat! You can’t go wrong with their savory entrees, from the vegetarian omelet to the Croque-Madame sandwich.
Cafébre
C. de Manuel Bravo 108, RUTA INDEPENDENCIA, Downtown, 68000 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
8am-8pm
Cafébre not only offers delicious brunch items, but they have the perfect courtyard for coworking! Brunch items range from traditional quiche, a variety of bagel sandwiches, and freshly made fruit smoothies. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the space is considering how many people are in and out all day.
Hierbe Dulce
C. Porfirio Díaz 311, RUTA INDEPENDENCIA, Downtown, 68000 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
12pm-9:30pm
One of the first plant-based, vegan, and organic restaurants in Oaxaca. Hierbe Dulce offers traditional Mexican entrees with local ingredients free of oil and sugar. They have delicious juices, fresh starters like ceviche and guacamole, and filling dishes like mushroom tacos and veggie enchiladas.
Here are a few cafe’s to check out for pre-brunch or a quick stop
Mondo Cafe
Reforma 904B, RUTA INDEPENDENCIA, Downtown, 68000 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax
8am-4pm
Mondo Cafe is very small and their food is so-so but it’s a great cafe for working or grabbing a smoothie or coffee! The owners are super nice and accomodating, as well.
Mosso Cafe
Guadalupe Victoria #122. Col. Ejido Guadalupe Victoria, 68280 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
8am-10pm
Mosso Cafe is one of my favorite cafes to work at, in part because it’s close to my house but also the rooftop terrace is goals and their food is actually REALLY good. Sometimes cafes that allow you to steal their WiFi all day don’t have the best food. They also have delicious smoothies and juices if you don’t feel like ordering a meal!
Kiyo Cafe
C. Porfirio Díaz 212, RUTA INDEPENDENCIA, Downtown, 68000 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax.
9am-7pm
It’s quite a small cafe but very quaint and a must-try for a good coffee or kombucha! The menu isn’t large but has the essentials – baked goods, oatmeal, and fruit! Kiyo Cafe is the perfect place to stop for early morning breakfast in Centro.
