Fall is one of my favorite seasons in Washington State. It’s unbelievably gorgeous with the leaves changing and the crisp cool air is so refreshing after a long hot triple-digit summer. Honestly, I start getting in the fall mood around mid-August when Washington’s fifth season is in full force. Not sure what I’m talking about? Check out this video.
The end of August-middle of September brings lovely sunflower season, followed by apple picking, and heading into October for corn mazes and pumpkin patches. Here are some of my favorite fall festivals in Washington State.
Craven Farm
Address: 13817 Short School Rd, Snohomish, WA 98290
Hours: 9:30am-6pm
Cost: Free
September 17th – October 30th, 2022
Craven Farm is most notable on Instagram for its pumpkin wall (shown below). Snap a few photos here at the entrance before making your way to the farm. Behind the barn opens up to a variety of stands selling goodies like hot cocoa, cider, coffee, donuts, cookies, funnel cakes, cheese curds, kettle corn, roasted corn, chili, hamburgers, and hot dogs. Keep in mind some of these stands are only open on weekends while others are available daily.
Hop on a hayride around the fields or the cow train for tiny guests. Navigate through the corn maze or make your way over to explore the acres of pumpkin patch to pick your very own pumpkin to take home. Spend the evening cozied up next to the fire by renting one of the fire pits which includes the wood, tent, and a picnic table and is maintained by a staff member for a worry-free experience.

The famous beer stein holding competition, local Festbier, traditional Bavarian clothing, hats, and souvenirs for sale, live music from yodeling, alphorns, and traditional oompah bands, all the sausages, pretzels, and beers from local breweries as well as traditional German beers!

Thomas Family Farm opens up early for fall festivities towards the end of August with its sunflower field. There are sunsets in the fields and a few sip and pick days and they’re very low-key about bringing stuff in, so pack a picnic and make a day of it!
Heading into October, there’s so many activities to pick from! Of course, there’s the traditional pumpkin patch, corn maze, cow train, apple cannons, go-karts, and duck races. But they also take it up a notch for their night events with zombie paintball, a haunted house, a flashlight corn maze, and a haunted hayride!

Sunflower Festival August 27th-September 16th, 2022
Fall Festival September 17th-October 31st, 2022
Bob’s Corn & Pumpkin Patch has SO many fun events and activities. A few of my favorite events are Sunset in the Sunflowers, Farm Yoga, and Night Maze but you can check out a full list of their events and pricing here.
In addition to these events, their fall activities are fun for any age! Say goodbye to sunny summer at the biggest u-pick sunflower field in Washington State. Come back to find your way through the corn maze, cozy up at a bonfire, grab a few pumpkins from the u-pick pumpkin patch, jump on the cow train, grain train, or go on a hayride, and don’t forget to blast some energy out with the apple cannons.
After all the activities, you’ll probably be starving! There are so many goodies to choose from in the local farmers market or at one of the concession stands selling hot cider, cocoa, kettle corn, roasted corn, and much more!

Pumpkin Patch October & Other Activities All Year
Smallwood’s Harvest is an adorable farm stand between Leavenworth and Wenatchee that is open all year round. Selling fresh local fruit and wine plus an assortment of unique jams, jellies, spreads, and dips, they are a great stop any time of the year.
You won’t miss them off Highway 2 with their petting zoo (goats, donkeys, llamas, pigs, emus, ducks, chickens, peacocks, and more rescued animals), cow train, duck pond, horseshoe pits, and large playground area. It’s truly fun for the whole family!
And in the fall, you can wander through the large pumpkin patch, go for a tractor ride, or get lost in the hay maze.
