6 Ways to Take Care of Your Skin While Traveling

Taking care of your skin (especially while traveling) may seem like a very high-maintenance thing but nothing can ruin your vacation mood and photos more than tired-looking eyes, dull and dry skin, or greasy skin. By adding just a few simple steps to your travel routine, you’ll arrive in your destination looking and feeling your very best!

Get Plenty of Beauty Sleep

Especially if you have an early morning flight, you should make sure to get a good night’s sleep the night before your flight. When you arrive at your destination, you should immediately get on the current time zone’s eating and sleeping schedule. This will help your body and mind adjust quickly to avoid jetlag and the issues that lack of sleep cause you to be more prone to.

My 2 sleep essentials are Melatonin and this eye sleep mask (I swear by it – I own 3 of them to keep in different bags LOL).

Hydrate

Drink plenty of water and drinks that have electrolytes like coconut water, Gatorade, Pedialyte, or Liquid IV before, during, and after your flight. Staying hydrated helps keep your skin hydrated as well.

Wash Your Face & Ditch the Makeup

Wash your face before and after your fight and ditch the makeup. Everyone is wearing protective face masks these days, so no need for makeup! Heavy foundations and creams can dry out your skin even more and cause breakouts, so if you’re going to wear makeup wear a BB cream that is moisturizing.

Avoid Touching Your Face

While this is a great rule of thumb ALWAYS to prevent breakouts, it’s even more important while you’re traveling as you’re coming in contact with a variety of unknown bacteria. Make sure to wash your hands and/or use antibacterial hand sanitizer often while traveling.

Pack a Moisturizer

A thick cream mask like this one or a nighttime face moisturizer will help your skin stay hydrated throughout your flight and prevent breakouts and skin issues from excessive dryness. Apply before you board and depending on how long your flight is, reapply or use a sheet mask/facial spray to add additional hydration as needed.

Carry a Good Sheet Mask & Undereye Patches

Avoid puffy eyes and dark circles under your eyes in your vacation pictures by starting your trip off right. A sheet mask will add hydration to your skin mid-flight and undereye patches rejuvenate your eyes immediately. This will help with dry and combination skin during the flight and if you’re traveling to a cool or dry climate. The best part is they barely take up any space, so pack extra for a little skin pick-me-up during your trip!
