Spokane is known as the lilac city (hint hint go in the spring/summertime) and is located in Eastern Washington. More than just a large city, Spokane offers a variety of outdoor activities suitable for the whole family!
These are the top 5 must-see things to do while visiting Spokane, Washington!
Centennial Trail
Centennial Trail begins at the official state line between Washington and Idaho, passes through scenic Spokane, and ends at the famous Nine Mile Falls. While I’m not suggesting you walk the entire 40-mile paved trail, it provides a beautiful path through the city along Riverfront Park, and out to the countryside.
Spokane Falls
Spokane Falls is a beautiful set of waterfalls sitting in the business hub of downtown Spokane. The Upper and Lower Falls each has its own dam. These dams date back to the 1800s making them historical landmarks while also being very functional and powering electricity within the city.

The suspension bridge is located near Post Street and Monroe Street for the lower falls and the suspension bridge near the Washington Water Power building for the upper falls.
Riverfront Park
The Giant Red Wagon, or Radio Flyer, is quite an iconic part of Spokane to younger JJ. It’s basically all I remember of Spokane from my childhood because it’s the World’s Largest Radio Flyer and the handle is a giant slide!
However, if you’re not a child or don’t have children, Riverfront Park offers SO much more. The indoor carousel, ice skating rink, sky ride, cafe, ice cream truck, and the pavilion. The pavilion is an amazing event space that always has something going on and they also do light shows every weekend and holidays.
Centennial Trail passes through Riverfront Park and you’ll also be able to access Spokane Falls through the park.
