In case you missed it, take a peep at my Ultimate Guide to a Weekend in Bellingham!

Bayou on Bay

As the name suggests, Bayou on Bay is a spicy and flavorful Cajun restaurant. It’s the perfect little slice of New Orleans in the PNW with the energy of the city and the service of the south!

They offer Cajun, Creole, and Southern cuisine and classic cocktails like the Bloody Mary, Hurricane, and Paloma. Since I surprisingly never tried alligator while living in Florida for 8 years 🤦‍♀️ I decided to give it a try! Much to my surprise…it was good, like really good! I know it sounds cliché but its texture and taste are similar to chicken. 🤷‍♀️

🍤 A few of my favorites: jambalaya, Mac & Cheese, biscuits and gravy, and the Bayou Bloody Mary

Homeskillet

Homeskillet is the ultimate representation of Bellingham in one tiny little eccentric eatery. You can not visit Bellingham without coming here and trust me, you can’t miss it. Miss. Velveeta Jones the colorful rooster will welcome you and the outside (and inside) look like a 1969 VW van exploded.

Being family-owned there’s definitely a no-nonsense vibe about it that you kinda fall in love with; the staff are quirky and shout out ridiculous cues to one another in passing. Homeskillet doesn’t take reservations or parties over 4 so be mindful of that.

🍹 A few of my favorites: veggie home skillet, homemade biscuits & homemade gravy, pancakes, and house-made Bloody Mary

In addition to the quirky staff and hippie ambiance, the delicious food is what keeps locals and visitors coming back time and time again.

Colophon Cafe

Located in the charming historic area of Fairhaven Village, Colophon Cafe is not your typical brunch spot. They offer bagels, quiche, smoked salmon-hummus-cheese boards, salads, sandwiches, and soups. Add your choice of adult beverage to make it a fun boozy brunch; choices include Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s, and Irish Coffee!

The Colophon Cafe can be a bit hard to find as it’s located in the basement but the entrance is in the Fairhaven square, look for the big green Village Books & Colophon Cafe sign. Inside is warm with exposed walls, couches, and a fireplace. It’s quite easy to get cozy and stay for awhile! But if the weather is nice and it’s not already packed, grab a spot outside on the patio to enjoy the beautiful Bellingham weather.

Magdalena’s Creperie

Also located in Fairhaven Village, Magdalena’s Creperie offers a wide variety of savory and sweet crêpes, handmade pierogi’s, and soups, salads, and sandwiches. Their crêpes and pierogis are authentic, the ambiance is intimate, and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.

🧀 A few of my favorites: Savory Crêpe: Fresh spinach, Bleu Cheese, and Smoked Salmon and Sweet Crêpe: Nutella and Banana drizzled with dark chocolate.

Cosmo’s Bistro

Open for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays only (weekday breakfast available), Cosmo’s Bistro is a go-to for a boozy brunch. Offering beer, wine, and a full list of specialty mimosa’s there is something for everyone. Not an alcohol drinker? That’s okay! There are plenty of non-alcoholic beverages available such as tea, coffee, kombucha, soda, lemonade, and ginger beer.

Aside from their delicious libations, Cosmo’s Bistro offers unique brunch options that include spicy fried rice with scrambled eggs, almond and ginger-spiced granola and yogurt, and an adobo Benedict.

However, I’m a sucker for a breakfast burrito, so Cosmo’s Eggurito is one of my favorites!

🌯 A few of my favorites: Migas, Egggurito, and The Mango Mimosa

The Fork at Agate Bay

Located on the northern side of Lake Whatcom, The Fork at Agate Bay is a 15-minute drive from downtown. Although a bit further, it will not disappoint with a brunch menu stacked full of benedicts, corned beef hash, country biscuits, chicken fried steak, and shakshuka. Breakfast staples: eggs, avocado, bacon, chorizo, ham, chicken sausage, potatoes, peppers, and onions are in abundance. There are also plenty of adult beverages to choose from to elevate your meal!

🥞A few of my favorites: Cottage Cakes Stack, Beignets, and Peach Bellini

The Daisy Cafe

Omelets, frittatas, scrambles oh my! Pancakes, french toast, and baked goods aplenty. Thankfully The Daisy Cafe is open for breakfast all day!

If you, or someone you’re with, has a dietary restriction, the staff is extremely accommodating.

🍊 A few of my favorites: Great Northwest Benedict, Twin Sisters, and Cinnamon Orange French Toast
