Before you book your trip, here are a few tips to read before going!
Best time to go: In September and October, the weather is warmer and skies are typically more clear. It’s also not peak tourist season so you’ll find great deals on accommodations, tours, and admission.
Catch a SF Giants Baseball game, indulge your sweet tooth at the Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival, partake in Labor Day festivities, enjoy theater in the park, and take a boat ride/tour on the bay are a few highlights of visiting in September.
Castro Street Fair, Fleet Week, Bluegrass Festival, Italian Heritage Parade, Litquake, Wharf Fest, and Halloween festivities are just some of the highlights of visiting in October!
Climate: San Francisco has a mild climate. Rainy season is November to March while the warmest months tend to be September and October. No matter the time of the year, there’s a high chance you’ll meet Karl. “Karl the Fog” rolls in from the Pacific Ocean dropping temperatures quite quickly. The weather can change within minutes with the cities maritime location and rolling hills different parts of the city can experience various temperatures throughout the day.

What to Pack: A sweater/light jacket in the warmer months and a rain jacket/heavy jacket in the cooler months. Layers. Layers. And more layers. Good walking shoes as SF is known for its hills!
Language: English is the main language but there is also a significant Chinese and Mexican population, so Chinese and Spanish are also spoken often in various areas.
Money: US Dollar ($USD) ATMs are spread throughout the city and most businesses accept all major credit cards.
Transportation: SF is one of the best cities in the US to get around without a car. Avoid the traffic, parking, navigating the one-ways, and hills by taking part in SF’s Public Transportation. BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), Muni city buses, Mini Muni streetcars or trolleys, cable cars, PresidiGo, ferries, Uber, Lyft, and taxi.
